Every day brings gamers closer to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, and the hype around the game keeps building. Rockstar Games’ blockbuster release figures to be the defining gaming title of 2026 (if not the entire decade), and as November 6 approaches, more and more details about the release continue to circulate.
One new rumor suggests that Rockstar could have a shocking new feature in GTA VI: Spotify integration. Were the music streaming giant to be included in the game, it would revolutionize the Grand Theft Auto soundscape; however, it could also bring an end to one of the game’s most unique traditions.
Grand Theft Auto VI Rumored to Integrate Spotify
Over the past few weeks, several different social media accounts have reported that Grand Theft Auto VI will feature Spotify integration, allowing players to listen to their personal music and playlists while roaming the streets of Vice City.
While these rumors are still unsubstantiated, the potential addition of Spotify has polarized the GTA fanbase.
Some fans have expressed excitement for the possibility of integrating the popular streaming service — a feature that has been requested from fans since early in the days of Grand Theft Auto Online. Others have been less enthusiastic about its inclusion.
Rockstar has used its flagship releases to push the limits of gaming, so incorporating Spotify into GTA VI wouldn’t be out of tune with the franchise’s identity. However, as many have pointed out, Spotify’s appearance in the game could result in the end of one of the franchise’s longest-standing traditions: Grand Theft Auto radio.
Spotify Could End GTA Radio as Fans Know It
Spotify’s inclusion in Grand Theft Auto VI is far from a done deal, but assuming this partnership does end up happening, the end of GTA radio as fans know it could happen sooner than expected.
Radio stations have been a constant in Grand Theft Auto since the franchise debuted in 1997, making their potential absence from GTA VI one of the most bittersweet elements of the long-awaited sequel. That said, this absence would make more sense than ever before.
Radio was one of the most important entertainment mediums in the world throughout the 1990s and 2000s, so its prominence in the Grand Theft Auto franchise felt like a seamless extension of real-life pop culture. In 2026, that’s not exactly the case anymore.
Although terrestrial radio still outpaces music streaming in total U.S. listening time, the gap between the two is smaller than ever before, with many younger fans preferring services like Spotify. Considering Grand Theft Auto‘s target demographic is gamers aged 18-35, Rockstar may see personal music integration as a natural evolution of the series’ audio identity.
It’s hard to imagine Rockstar completely doing away with GTA radio stations, but as of now, no stations have been confirmed for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI. Additionally, the beloved host of Grand Theft Auto V’s Non-Stop Pop FM, Cara Delevingne, recently confirmed that she won’t be returning in GTA VI with an in-game message for Grand Theft Auto Online, stating:
“Guys, it’s official. Rockstar just announced a release date for GTA VI, and spoiler alert, it’s coming later this year. As happy as I am for you guys, I have been left out of the next game, and I am so sad that I will not be able to join you guys.
So this is going to be my final fare — well. I hope you all have a fun time over there in Vice City.
Don’t forget to come visit me sometime, kid. Oh wait, you’re not a kid anymore — you all have grown up right before my eyes. I keep forgetting it’s been over 12 years since we started. DJ Cara’s sign-off isn’t necessarily a sign that Rockstar is doing away with radio stations in totality, but it certainly coincides with recent rumors that Spotify will make its Grand Theft Auto debut. In a perfect world, Rockstar would simply do both: include Spotify integration & the radio stations that have defined GTA‘s music for decades.
For now, fans will have to wait for Rockstar to clarify GTA VI‘s music plan. Considering the company’s tight-lipped policies about their titles, this clarification may very well have to wait until the game’s release, giving gamers plenty of time to speculate in the coming months.
