It’s official: THE ONE PIECE is real and hitting Netflix in February 2027. The WIT Studio-led remake of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved franchise was first announced way back in December 2023, and now, fans finally have their first look at the reimagining of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to become the next King of the Pirates.

Netflix’s teaser trailer for THE ONE PIECE looks every bit as incredible as was promised, potentially marking the beginning of a new era for the long-running shonen series. While the release of the remake is still several months away, there’s plenty for fans to be excited about in the interim.

On June 24, Netflix’s social media accounts dropped the first look at THE ONE PIECE, finally giving fans a glimpse of the amazing work that WIT Studio is doing on the series’ highly anticipated remake of Eiichiro Oda’s manga. As expected, the animation and artwork look incredible, and while it remains to be seen how transformative WIT’s One Piece remake truly is, this teaser was cause for celebration among long-time fans of the series.

From Gol D. Roger’s famous last words to Monkey D. Luffy’s first standoff with the Marines, THE ONE PIECE teaser trailer features several iconic moments from the East Blue Saga. WIT Studio’s reputation as one of the premier animation studios in the world is only growing stronger, and thanks to the studio’s work, Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga is more accessible than ever before.

Between THE ONE PIECE, Netflix’s live-action One Piece adaptation, and Toei Animation’s recent switch to a seasonal release format, the daunting episode/chapter count of the series is no longer the barrier to entry that it once was. Though it remains to be seen how WIT Studio manages to adapt the first 50 chapters of the East Blue into only 7 episodes, the studio’s track record more than speaks for itself.

Netflix has also confirmed that the One Piece remake’s first season will run roughly 300 minutes in total, which means each episode should have significantly more room to breathe than a standard weekly anime installment.

The East Blue Saga first hit TV screens all the way back in 1999, so this remake will be over 27 years in the making by the time it debuts on Netflix. While THE ONE PIECE‘s release date is still over seven months away, the hype around the series is at an all-time high, and it’s only going to get bigger as the most impressive anime remake of the modern era approaches.
