Safe to say, the release of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender has been nothing short of a debacle. The long-awaited return of Aang and his companions was one of the most anticipated projects of 2026, but since the film was leaked online in April, good news has been hard to come by for fans of the franchise.

Now, yet another SNAFU has thrown a wrench in Paramount’s plans. According to a now-deleted post from Paramount+ Brazil’s account, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender may be set to release even earlier than fans expected — and not in theaters.

Paramount+ Brazil Deletes Post Showing Avatar Film Slated for July Release

On July 1, Paramount+ Brazil’s X account posted a July release schedule that included a surprising title. Per the post’s graphic, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender was slated for a July 25 release, marking a stark change in plans from the film’s original October release date.

However, this wasn’t all the post revealed. Assuming the information is correct, this announcement would mean that Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender would go straight to streaming, rather than receiving a theatrical release as many fans had hoped.

Paramount+ Brazil’s post was swiftly deleted, and Paramount has yet to offer any official statement regarding its veracity.

While it’s possible that Paramount+ Brazil published an inaccurate graphic, given everything that has already happened with Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, fans are understandably treating the mistake as more than a harmless scheduling error.

This turn of events isn’t exactly surprising, as the film’s leak made it unlikely that Paramount+ would take the financial risk necessary for a widespread theatrical release. That said, it doesn’t make things any less disappointing for ATLA fans, many of whom have begun criticizing Paramount for its perceived mistreatment of the franchise.

Considering the poor reception of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender (co-produced by Paramount) and the myriad issues surrounding Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, there’s plenty of criticism to levy at Paramount for their handling of the franchise. The studio has completely dropped the ball with one of the most universally beloved IPs of the 2000s, and its repeated failure to communicate the state of affairs following the film’s leak and numerous delays doesn’t bode well for Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s future.

Hopefully, Paramount offers clarity on Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender‘s release in the coming days; after all, that’s the least that its fans deserve at this point.
